Saskia Rao-de Haas


Saskia Rao-de Haas is a Dutch cellist based in Delhi, India. She is the first performer to adapt the cello to the performance of North Indian classical music and uses a specially constructed cello for this purpose, with five playing strings and ten sympathetic strings. She has studied Indian music with Koustav Ray, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Sumati Mutatkar, D. K. Datar, and Deepak Chowdhury.
